The glass fronted, cased automata shows Capt. Cat asleep in his bunk. When operated a fishing boat is visible, through the window, bobbing on the sea. Capt. Cat's chest rises and falls as he breaths. He is dreaming about his old friends and shipmates (Dancing Williams, Tom Fred the donkey man, Rosie Probert, Jonah Jarvis, Alfred Pomeroy-Jones and Curly Bevan ) who appear and disappear from various places about the cabin. The lines of the play appear in word bubbles with the characters and from hidden places in the room.
